Bruschetta is a classic Italian appetizer that is easy to make at home. Toasted bread is topped with tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and fresh basil. Use a high-quality balsamic vinegar for best results.

Ingredients

  • French bread: 1 loaf (cut into 1/4 inch slices)
  • olive oil: 1 Tbsp
  • roma (plum) tomatoes: 8 piece (diced)
  • basil: 0.33333 cup (fresh; chopped)
  • Parmesan cheese, freshly: 1 oz (grated)
  • garlic: 2 clove (minced)
  • good quality balsamic vinegar: 1 Tbsp
  • olive oil: 2 tsp
  • kosher salt: 0.25 tsp
  • black pepper: 0.25 tsp (freshly ground)

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Brush bread slices on both sides lightly with 1 tablespoon oil and place on large baking sheet. Toast bread until golden, 5 to 10 minutes, turning halfway through.
