
This yeast rolls recipe was given to me by my great-great-grandmother. I made these easy rolls for a state fair competition and received first place.
Ingredients
- hot water : 1 cup
- white sugar : 3 Tbsp
- shortening : 2 Tbsp
- (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast : 1 pack
- all-purpose flour : 2.25 cups
- egg, beaten : 1 piece
- salt : 1 tsp

Mix hot water, sugar, and shortening in a large bowl. Let cool until lukewarm.

Stir in yeast until dissolved, then mix in flour, egg, and salt. Cover and let dough rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.

Grease 8 muffin cups. Divide dough equally into the prepared muffin cups. Let rise again until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
