Lemon rice is another traditional Indian dish that may become one of the major dishes for your everyday meals. Despite of the simple name, the dish involves diverse ingredients, which are quite unusual. Are you intrigued to cook lemon rice right away? Then you are welcome to do that!
- lemon juice : 15 ml
- rice : 2 cup
- ground nut : 0.25 cup (roasted)
- green chili pepper : 2 piece
- ginger : 1 Tbsp (chopped)
- dry red chili : 1 piece
- turmeric powder : 1 tsp
- mustard seeds : 1 Tbsp
- Bengal gram : 3 Tbsp
- urad dal : 1 Tbsp
- peppercorn : 1 Tbsp
- curry leaves : 1 piece (spring)
- salt : 0.5 tsp
- asafoetida : 1 tsp
- oil : 3 Tbsp
Stages of cooking
Boil rice in a deep pot and set it aside to cool down. Meanwhile, take a frying pan, heat it, add oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add Bengal gram, peppercorn, green and dry red chili, ginger.
Then add urad dal, ground nuts, asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves. You can also add chopped onion, if you like it. Mix the ingredients and sauté them a bit.
Then add boiled rice and salt to your taste. Mix the ingredients well.
Add lemon juice and mix everything well.
Finally, add oil, mix the dish, turn off the fire and serve lemon rice hot. Bon appétit!
