History of the Wonton Soup

Wonton soup is a traditional Chinese dish that originated in the Guangdong Province of southern China. It has been enjoyed for over 2,000 years and has spread across the globe, becoming a popular dish in Western countries as well. Wonton soup is often served as an appetizer or as a light meal on its own.

Tips and Tricks for Wonton Soup Recipe

To ensure the best flavor and texture of the wontons, it is important to finely chop the pork and shrimp. Mixing the ingredients and letting them sit for 25 to 30 minutes allows the flavors to blend together, creating a more delicious filling. When wrapping the wontons, make sure to seal the edges well with water to prevent them from opening during cooking. It is also important to not overfill the wontons to avoid them from bursting open in the soup.

Tips for presenting the dish

To present the wonton soup, ladle the broth and wontons into individual bowls and garnish with thinly sliced green onions. Serve the soup hot and enjoy as an appetizer or a light meal on its own. This classic Chinese dish can be paired with other dishes or sides, such as stir-fried vegetables or steamed rice.
