A gyro is a Greek sandwich consisting of meat, tomato, onion, and tzatziki sauce that's served on pita bread. These beef gyros are yummy!

Ingredients

  • containers plain yogurt: 2 piece (8 ounce)
  • cucumbers - peeled, seeded, and: 2 piece (diced)
  • olive oil: 3 Tbsp (divided)
  • fresh dill: 1 Tbsp (chopped)
  • lemon: 0.5 piece (juiced)
  • garlic: 3 clove (peeled)
  • salt and ground black pepper: (to taste)
  • beef top sirloin steak: 1 piece (1 pound, cut into thin strips)
  • pita bread rounds: 5 piece
  • tomato: 1 piece (chopped)
  • onion: 0.5 piece (sliced)
  • crumbled feta cheese: 1 pack (4 ounce pack)
  • lettuce: 0.5 cup (shredded)
  • ripe olives: 1 can (2.25 ounce can, drained, sliced)

  1. Blend yogurt, cucumbers, 2 tablespoons olive oil, dill, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper in a blender until tzatziki sauce is evenly combined.

  2. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir steak in the hot skillet until no longer pink, 5 to 10 minutes.

  3. Layer 1/2 of each pita with steak, tomato, onion, feta cheese, lettuce, olives, and tzatziki sauce. Bring the edge of each pita over the filling and secure with a toothpick.
