My boys and husband love this homemade beef chili recipe with beans that I make in the slow cooker. Add some corn chips or Cheddar cheese and it is always a winner.

Ingredients

  • olive oil: 2 Tbsp
  • onion: 1 piece (chopped)
  • garlic: 2 clove (minced, to taste)
  • lean ground beef: 2 pound
  • kidney beans: 2 cans (16 ounce cans, drained)
  • tomatoes: 1 can (28 ounce can, diced)
  • tomato puree: 1 can (15 ounce can)
  • water: 1 cup
  • green Chili peppers: 1 can (4 ounce can, chopped)
  • mild chili powder: 2 Tbsp
  • salt: 2 tsp
  • ground cumin: 2 tsp
  • ground black pepper: 1 tsp

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef; cook and stir until browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios
