All the world's great donuts are fried, except there are a few rare examples of when they're not—and this incredibly delicious and easy-to-make apple cider donut is one notable exception. Since we're not going to fry these, not only are they easier, but they're way less messy. Less time cleaning up means more time eating donuts.

  • apple cider: 2 cups (fresh)
  • all-purpose flour: 2 cups
  • baking powder: 0.75 tsp
  • baking soda: 0.75 tsp
  • fine salt: 0.25 tsp
  • ground cinnamon: 1 tsp
  • ground cardamom: 1 pinch
  • freshly grated nutmeg: 1 pinch
  • white sugar: 0.5 cup
  • packed brown sugar: 0.5 cup
  • warm milk: 0.5 cup
  • unsalted butter: 6 Tbsp (melted, divided)
  • vanilla extract: 0.75 tsp
  • egg: 1 piece
  • white sugar: 1 cup (or as needed)
  • ground cinnamon: 1 Tbsp (or as needed)
