Old gorton recipe from French-Canadian Memere (Grandma). Delicious and spicy pork spread for sandwiches. Pronounced "gah-ton." Enjoy on a sandwich with mustard or eat alone.

Ingredients

  • lean pork butt: 1 pound (cut into pieces)
  • onion: 1 piece (chopped)
  • ground cinnamon: 0.5 tsp
  • ground cloves: 0.25 tsp
  • salt and black pepper: (to taste)

  1. Place pork, onion, cinnamon, and clove into a saucepan. Season with salt and pepper. Pour in enough water to just cover pork. Bring to a boil.
