- ginger : 150 g (fresh)
- brown sugar : 200 g
- orange : 1 piece
- lemon : 1 piece
- water : 70 ml
Stages of cooking
Prepare the ingredients first to have them at hand while cooking the jam. It is preferable to use brown sugar in this recipe, because it gives the jam caramel taste. If you don’t have it, however, then you can use white sugar.
Peel the ginger and chop the product. Them peel lemon and orange and cut the peels into small pieces around 1 cm each.
Take two large glass jars and place ginger and citrus peels into them. Pour with cold water and leave for about 3 days. Change the water twice or thrice a day.
Then place the ginger and citrus peels into a pot, add sugar and water and boil them. Right after that, turn the fire off and leave the jam for about 2-3 hours (or overnight). Then put the jam onto fire once again, boil it and turn the fire off one more time. Leave for 2-3 hours. Finally, boil the jam once again, add lemon juice and let it cool down.
Spoon the jam into glass jars and keep them in a fridge. Bon appétit!
