Ingredients

  • shortening: 0.5 cup
  • packed brown sugar: 0.5 cup
  • molasses: 1 cup
  • eggs: 2 piece
  • salt: 0.5 tsp
  • ground cinnamon: 1 tsp
  • ground cloves: 0.5 tsp
  • ground ginger: 1 tsp
  • ½ cups all-purpose flour: 2 piece
  • baking soda: 1 tsp
  • hot, brewed coffee: 1 cup

  1. Sift together salt, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, flour, and baking soda.

  2. Cream shortening and sugar gradually, then add molasses and eggs. Mix in sifted ingredients. Stir in hot coffee; batter will be thin.
