Learn how to make shrimp fried rice, restaurant-style with this recipe. This is how I used to cook real shrimp fried rice when my father still owned a restaurant.

Ingredients

  • water: 3 cups
  • ½ cups uncooked white rice: 1 piece
  • vegetable oil: 4 Tbsp
  • bean sprouts: 1 cup (fresh)
  • onion: 0.5 cup (chopped)
  • ½ cups cooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined without tail: 1 piece
  • eggs: 2 piece (beaten)
  • green onion: 0.25 cup (chopped)
  • soy sauce: 4 Tbsp
  • salt: 1 tsp
  • ground black pepper: 0.25 tsp
  • sesame oil: 0.25 tsp

  2. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Set aside and allow rice to completely cool.

  3. Heat a large skillet or wok for 2 minutes. When the skillet or wok is hot, pour in vegetable oil, bean sprouts, and onions. Mix well and cook for 3 minutes. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios

  4. Mix in cooled rice and shrimp and cook for another 3 minutes. Stirring constantly. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios

  5. Add in eggs, green onion, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and sesame oil. Cook for another 4 minutes, stirring continuously, until eggs are cooked and everything is blended evenly. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios
